Gaudete Sunday

O Lord Jesus Christ, who at thy first coming didst send thy messenger to prepare thy way before thee; Grant that the ministers and stewards of thy mysteries may likewise so prepare and make ready thy way, by turning the hearts of the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, that at thy second coming to judge the world we may be found an acceptable people in thy sight, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Spirit ever, one God, world without end. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer, Church of England)

Here's the lovely Steeleye Span singing Gaudete, Gaudete - Rejoice, Rejoice!

The Third Sunday in Advent is a time of rejoicing, for the day of our Lord is close. How true this is even today. Our Lord could return at any time. Rejoice for our Lord returns soon!

  1. Rejoice indeed! I'm so glad you're flying the flame for the BCP, Guadete Sunday and 1970s folk rock whilst I'm away!

  2. As I said before, you can take the girl out of the Church of England, but you can't take the Church of England out of the girl! :)

And who can resist a bit of Steeleye span?
